UM/UIM/Dram Shop Uninsured Motorist Claim
Your insurance company pays when the other driver doesn't have any auto insurance. Uninsured coverage pays for many of the things that the other driver's insurance would have paid if it existed. Underinsured Motorist Claim
Underinsured motorist coverage is not the same as uninsured motorist coverage. Underinsured applies when the person who caused your car accident has insurance but the policy limits are not high enough to fully compensate you for your losses. An example: The driver who caused the car accident has insurance that pays only $20,000.00 for each person injured in a car accident and your losses are worth $100,000.00. If you have underinsured coverage, you will be able to collect the driver's policy of $20,000.00 and then look to your underinsured coverage for the remainder of your damages. If in a car accident, you may be entitled to recover the following: -medical bills and lost wages Dram Shop Claim/Drunk DriversRepresents one component of a car accident caused by a drunk driver. For example, if you were injured by a drunk driver to whom a bar sold alcohol when he or she was obviously intoxicated, your dram shop claim would be against the bar.
